My connection with nature has always been central to my identity as has my love of stories. I have been driven by these intertwining threads in my character for as long as I can remember. I see countless stories in nature and I seek to share them.
To this end, I have earned a BA in Filmmaking from Emerson College and a BS in Wildlife Conservation from the University of Washington. I have worked in a number of roles, which I have built on as I pursue a career in conservation communication--educator, naturalist, biological field technician, assistant on a handful of reality TV programs, to name a few.
I get a sincere joy from seeing my love and excitement for living things reflected in others. I am more so rewarded when I have challenged others to consider their place on the landscape and their relationship with wildlife. My favorite question that I get from others is, “What can we do?” It suggests to me a willingness to know more, to take responsibility, and to engage in a positive impact.
Human’s relationship with the landscape and wildlife is the cornerstone of conservation. Conservation is a matter of our ability to coexist with a natural landscape, which includes wildlife. My goals as a communicator are to use media to explore people’s relationships with wildlife and how that relationship influences a species’ future. Nature does not exist in a world that is extrinsic to our human world. Our stories are so deeply interconnected. We thus must consider how our relationships allow for cohabitation.
I hope the photography I share with you here challenges you to consider life on a broader scale--one which includes the wildlife which shares the landscape with us. By engaging with the landscape, by being curious about the creatures that inhabit it, I hope you see a greater story. I hope that you see that the world is bigger than just our species.
